Glad to hear, you're not 'that American'. Sorry, sometimes it's easier to generalize, but you know what, I think you do too, with atheists :-). Yesterday I was walking along a little strand we have here. I picked up some tin can someone dropped in the sand, took it with me and threw it in the bin. Why? Because I'm empathic towards animals and nature in general. I don't need a god to be like that. It just comes natural, it is in my genes. I'm humble enough to pick up trash someone left behind, without ever getting any form of reward. I don't do it for rewards, I do it for a cleaner environment. And so are most if not all atheists. They are just as loving, friendly and social as any religious human, only, they don't need religion for it. They just are. And they are very, very much aware they are the ones responsible.. They know there's noone who forgives their sins, noone who 'makes it rihgt in the end', when they screw up, it's their responsibility to make it right.

It is sad that - in general - especially christians don't care about this world. The cathastrophic situations we are in now is the result of 'our christian culture' rooted in the british and german industrialisation. "We're the crown of creation, we're created in God's image, it's OUR world, we can do what we want, we can treat it as we wish!". You know there's more man made mass on our planet now that biomass? You know your body is filled with microplastics? You know these are everywhere now, from the depest oceans to the highest mountains? How long you think we can go on with destroying our world?

And you know what? Especially a lot of christians DON'T EVEN CARE. Why bother? Jesus will return, there will be a new heaven and a new earth! Who cares about this planet! I've been in churches for over 50 years, NOT EVEN ONCE I've heard a sermon on how we should change our ways and how we are responsible for this planet. The environment was a non topic, when I mentioned it, it got this glaze stares.

And 'willing to give up everyting' is not the same as actually giving up everything. In fact, it's a far cry from that, don't you agree?
